When you're at work, you would often take a moment to grasp and think before responding to any situation or conversation. You know that doing this makes it under control and gives you ability to better handle the situation. On the other hand you might find yourself reacting to situations off work where you'd just say or do anything that you feel without thinking about consequences. If you're lucky it'll be a joyful moment, otherwise it might disturb the already fragile situation. Ofcourse if you apply the same policy in every situation it'll be fruitful.
Back home, we wouldn't often do that really. Is it because we already had tremendous job of being into senses at work and can't do this anymore? We just don’t want to make an effort. we just want to be ourselves. We want to just utter out the first words that came to mind. Well, wait, its not just uttering out, its in the thoughts too. Foolish soul is so much engaged in weaving its own story.
In my journey so far, atleast I have figured out that this question has a simple answer - one has to really be conscious. The acts of subconsciousness lead to all such dilemma and foolishness.
If consciousness is such a life skill, how can we effortlessly imbibe it within us?
Easier said than done, but most likely it needs to be practiced until its no longer an effort. While on this practice, seeking out what can make it easier and clearer would be worth looking forward to!
'Being yourself' is such a misunderstood phrase! Its not about doing whatever you want. Its about the conscious choices you make. The result may or may not be in favor but atleast you wouldn’t hesitate to take ownership of it as you know it was 'you' who chose to do it. And that’s probably is 'being yourself'!
